Back to the Hotel

A few minutes after leaving the hospital we were back at the hotel and the older boys are bouncing up and down to go swimming. It’s only 6pm our time, and we used to the sun not going down until about 10pm, so the boys are wired eventhough it’s dark outside in Gainesville. We walked down to the receptionist and asked how late the pool was open, and she mentioned that there was a security camera and that she’d keep an eye on us. Gainesville is pretty small, so I figured we’d be ok.
Once we got to the pool, I got nervous. There were about 10 guys in their 20s smoking and drinking and in general telling some stories and using language that makes me blush. I also found out that the entrance to the pool is from the parking lot (no key required) and not from the hotel like most places we’ve stayed at. A few minutes later all but one of them left (mysteriously unable to use their hotel keys to get back in the side entrance). Creepy. The one remaining was a nice enough guy, and tried to make a lot of small talk, while I kept making eye contact with the security camera. After a few more minutes I told the boys I had to test their blood sugar and I pretended it was low so we could leave. They were a little dissappointed, but they got over it.
We got back to the hotel room and showered, got ready for bed and the next day, and then tried to find something for the boys to watch on T.V. I called Ben and destressed a bit. Poor man. I had to stay up till midnight local time to do cornstarch, and I was so wound up from the day that it took me a while after that to fall asleep (eventhough I hadn’t slept since we’d been home). The alarm on my phone worked, and life was good.
The next morning I went down for breakfast and the lady in charge of it not only dug through 3 boxes to find plain oatmeal for my boys, but she actually found a little packet of crystal lite in her purse for my boys so they could drink something other than water. Isn’t that sweet? I had plenty to eat, but the boys aren’t used to waking up that early so they were a bit crabby.
